"It all started 2/3 years ago when a small group of us were nearing graduating and playing for Strathclyde Uni's 2nd team. We talked once or twice about how good it would be to have our own team, and what we could do with said team. It never became a reality though because we knew, amongst other things, that we didn't have enough players.
At the beginning of 2009 it was noticed that the original group of ponderers (now graduates) had grown to 7/8. And a few ex-Strath players were heading back to Glasgow in the new future. We realised we could get about 11 players together without any advertising or chasing of new players. So we started putting in the ground work.
We looked at costs, we looked at potential pitches, we thought about names, kit colour, etc etc. And slowly it became a reality!
We've had a couple of set backs but even more good luck. We held a pub quiz to help get us started which went down like a storm! We were offered a shared training slot which halved our training costs! And a number of players appeared only weeks before the season started!
We have started the 09/10 season in West District Division 4. So far we have scored 27 goals in 3 games and beated a team 5 leagues above us in the cup (Strathclyde Uni 1's since you ask), so we won't be hanging around the lower leagues for long.
Watch this space..."

I've had a play around with what you had. Feel free to take what you want from it.
The seed of Rottenrow hockey club was planted 2/3 years ago as a small group of us playing for Strathclyde University's 2nd XI neared graduation. We imagined how good it would be to have our own team in the future but never guessed things would progress beyond idle speculation.
At the beginning of 2009 we noticed that our original group of ponderers (now graduates) had grown in number. We realised after asking around that we had enough interested parties and excitedly considered the possibility of starting our own club.
We looked at costs, we looked at potential pitches, we thought about names, kit colour, etc etc, and slowly Rottenrow Hockey Club started to become a reality!
In the club's short life there has already been a lot to get excited about:
- The first social, a pub quiz, was a big fundraising success. - As word spreads more and more players are showing an interest in playing/training with us. - We have made an unbeaten start to the season and are realistically looking at promotion.
We have started the 09/10 season in West District Division 4, scoring 27 goals in 3 games. In the cup we have beaten a team 5 leagues above us (Strathclyde Uni 1's since you ask!) so it's plain to see we don't plan on hanging around the lower leagues for long!
The club is going from strength to strength - if you'd like to get involved please see the contacts page (include link) for more information.

That is much better, thanks! I hope you don't mind, I dived in and delete one word. I thought it sounded better without it.
Any comments on Ben's review?
